Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the promotion, you must meet the following criteria:
1. Location: You must be physically located in India. (If subscribing on Android via the Google Play store, your Play store account location must also be set to India.)
2. Account Status: You must be new to ChatGPT, a current free user, or an existing ChatGPT Go subscriber whose account is in good standing.
3. Good Standing Defined: An account is in good standing if it has no missed or declined payments.
Note for other paid users (Plus/Pro/Business/Enterprise/Edu): This promo is only available to new users, free users, and existing ChatGPT Go users. If you have a different active paid plan, you must cancel it, wait for your final billing period to complete (making you a free user), and then redeem the promotion, provided the promotional period is still active.
How to Redeem Your Free 12 Months?
You do not need to enter a promo code to redeem the promotion.
A. New Users / Upgrading from Free:
If you are new to ChatGPT or currently on the free plan, you can redeem now via the web or Android. (iOS users can redeem next week, or use the web instructions below).

Important Payment Note (UPI): If you use UPI, you may temporarily see a required charge of INR (₹) 1 on a recurring basis. This charge is required for using UPI and will be refunded.
Known Issue: OpenAI is aware that some new Android or web users are being incorrectly charged the full subscription price when trying to redeem. In these cases, a refund will be issued to the original form of payment, and the promotion will be added to your account in the coming few days.
B. Existing ChatGPT Go Subscribers:
Your redemption method depends on where you initially subscribed:

What Happens After 12 Months?
Once the 12-month promotional period ends, OpenAI will automatically charge your stored payment method the current monthly ChatGPT Go fee. To avoid this charge, you must cancel your subscription in advance.
Be careful about cancelling early: If you cancel your subscription after redemption but before the 12 months are up, you will lose access to ChatGPT Go at the end of that current 30-day billing cycle, and you will not be able to redeem the promotion again for the same account. You can verify your account status and terms at any time from Settings → Account on ChatGPT web.
